On July 16, 2015., Koprivnica introduced electric mini buses which are an example of the first zero-emission public transport in Croatia. The city of Koprivnica acquired the mini buses through CIVITAS DYN@MO project, the largest and most demanding project in which the City participates. The goal of the project is to develop a sustainable and energy efficient urban mobility with the emphasis on electromobility. The project is also implemented in three more cities: Aachen, Palma de Mallorca and Gdynia. The total value of the project is around €13.1 million, with the EU contribution of €8.5 million. The budet of the City of Koprivnica is €920,000.00 with the EU contribution of €556,221.00.
Electric buses were introduced within the project measure K.2.2. – Low CO2 emission public transportation. The zero-emission public transportation system will be integrated with the possibilities of the regional public transportation and will be the first such system in cities of the same size in the region. Čazmatrans – Nova d.o.o. participated in the realization of the measure as a local partner, aiming to improve current transportation services for the citizens of Koprivnica. The measure is implemented in accordance with the Plan of introducing public transportation in the City of Koprivnica, produced by the company Promet Plus d.o.o. Two electric mini buses were acquired from Croatian company Dok-Ing, also known for its electric car concept. The buses can transport 12 passengers and can run for 90-130 km. The strength of the motor is 100 kW, and maximum speed is electronically limited to 60 km/h.
The presentation of the buses was done in Koprivnica City Hall and the following people participated: the mayor of Koprivnica Vesna Želježnjak, her deputies Melita Samoborec and Mišel Jakšić, project dissemination leader Helena Hećimović, director of DOK-ING Vjekoslav Majetić, president of the Board of Čazmatrans Dragan Marinović and the member of the board of Promet Plusa Ivan Šimunec. After the presentation, everyone interested could ride on the new buses and see their benefits first hand. The test phase is next, which will determine the optimal route, after which the public transport with electric buses will commence, which is planned for September 2015. The planned route joins the Campus of University North, through the city center, with suburban areas.
